Ohhh, Pietie...
I will surely miss you! Long time friends... from Hampshire Cooperative Nursery School to family hiking in the Whites, to Hanover Garden Club hostesses and many times in between. When I knew of you & family going to Paris this past summer, I thought "oh, good! Pietie is much better!" Today, I am reminded how fragile life is & I regret that I wasn't able to grasp just one more visit with you. Yes, I surely will miss you dearly. Peace, my friend, peace and much love...

I met Pietie when she accompanied Dick to the blood cancer support group at Dartmouth Health. She was always so warm and upbeat that my husband and I felt better just being in her presence. My sympathy to her family….

Warm thoughts to Katherine, Elizabeth, and Peter on the death of your mother. I’ve known her since you all were in Ray School but really got to know her over all the years she and I worked on the Hanover-Joigny, France Exchange Program. She was a kingpin in the success of that program.
Just two months ago, a phone chat with your mother left me with admiration for her continued gusto for life in spite of her health issues. You were lucky to have her and I, to know her.
Bon Voyage, dear Pietie

I met your Mom and Dad at the DHMC support group. Your Dad was instrumental helping my husband thru his cancer journey. Your Mom was my role model of the perfect caregiver. Their presence in our group was always so uplifting. You have lost two outstanding parents and your children have lost a hands on Grandmother. Such joy you all have given her. Her memory will live on with all she has touched, and that is many. You were blessed with the best.

How fortunate we were to share 47 years of friendship, dear Pietie! You were my Carmen Miranda with your amazing energy, sparkling eyes, and open approach to making other cultures a part of your being. Living next door to you was a joy and so was celebrating your birthdays with you over the years (and your big anniversary party with Dick). You live on in Katherine, Peter, and Elizabeth and their families and you live on in many of us who will remember being blessed by your insights and radiance. Vaya con Dios, amiga.

Dear Katherine, Peter, and Elisabeth,
I met Peter in the Etna Post Office, and he brought your mom to the post office to visit around Thanksgiving. We had a nice conversation. I remember your mom driving around town with the yellow flowers on her Subaru Forester. l have fond memories of your mom. My deepest sympathy, from the bottom of my heart.

Carol Ahern - (Etna, NH)
